Carolee Schneemann

Carolee Schneemann (1939-2019) was a groundbreaking painter, filmmaker, and performance artist who worked closely with Sally Dixon. In this interview, Carolee discusses her work in painting and film, talking at length about her experimental film Fuses, which Sally acquired for the Carnegie Museum. Carolee reminisces about her relationships and collaborations with Sally, fellow filmmaker Stan Brakhage, and composer James Tenney.

Jane Wodening

Married to Stan Brakhage from 1957 until 1987, Jane provides detailed insights into her life and collaborations with Brakhage, as well as Brakhage’s complex relationship with Sally Dixon. Emmy Vadnais is Sally’s daughter-in-law. She is an occupational therapist who specializes in complementary and integrative health, wellness, and prevention. She lives with her husband, Zander Dixon, in Saint Paul, Minn.

 

john dixon

John is Sally Dixon's oldest son. After receiving degrees in math and computer science from the University of Denver, he worked at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, and worked for government and international programs in Washington, DC from 1988 until his retirement. He and his wife, Liz Dixon, are the proud parents of two sons and three grandchildren.
